Plan for Peters Park Dog Recreation Space

The Boston Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously on Monday to create Boston's first official dog park in the South End (reported in the Globe with quite possibly the worst article title ever). A portion of Peters Park will be dogs-only with the $250,000 plan (landscaping, fencing, doggie water fountain, etc.) and maintenance funded by a local friends group. Toni Pollack, Parks Commissioner, said, "We want people to view this as one park, not just a dog recreation area." ["dog recreation area" makes me chuckle] Let's see if the Friends of Peters Park can raise all the money they need and keep their canine utopia up to snuff. If they can, it will be an exemplar for other Boston neighborhoods.
